Agreement to Accelerate Improvement Across All Levels of the Organization

(SCOTTSDALE, Ariz.)  K-MOTION – the leader in 3D evaluations and biofeedback training solutions for coaches and athletes – announces an agreement with the Baltimore Orioles to become the organization’s Player Development Partner and official 3D Motion Data Technology.

With K-MOTION Baseball’s precise and personalized 3D swing data, the Orioles’ coaches can objectively identify opportunities for improvement in players’ swings, train the exact solutions and track progress through a centralized cloud dashboard. Through the dashboard, coaches can now easily see relationships between different data points to uncover trends that will facilitate improved outcomes across the entire organization. K-MOTION will also assist the Orioles with processing 3D swing data to detect potential injuries before they occur.

“Our partnership with K-MOTION allows us to quickly build a smarter, more efficient foundation for our player development programs,” says Sig Mejdal, Vice President and Assistant General Manager for Analytics of the Baltimore Orioles. “From Single-A all the way to the majors, we expect K-MOTION Baseball to accelerate our goal of creating the sustainable, long-term success that will bring a World Series title back to the city of Baltimore.”

A former NASA engineer, Mejdal was previously with the St. Louis Cardinals and Houston Astros before joining the Orioles front office in 2018. He oversees all aspects of the Orioles’ analytics efforts while assisting and advising in all manners of baseball operations.

“The integration of K-MOTION products at over 22 MLB teams showcases how powerful 3D technology is to player development,” says Michael Chu, CEO of K-MOTION. “We are thrilled the Orioles trust our products to provide the most precise and efficient data measurement and training tools in baseball.”

In 1954, Major League Baseball returned to the city of Baltimore, drawing more than one million fans in its first year and laying the foundation for decades of success on and off the field. With three World Series titles (1966, 1970, and 1983) and six Baseball Hall of Famers including Jim Palmer, Eddie Murray, Cal Ripken, Jr., Brooks Robinson, Frank Robinson, and Earl Weaver, the Baltimore Orioles are one of baseball’s most-storied franchises. In 1992, Oriole Park at Camden Yards debuted and has since become “The Ballpark That Forever Changed Baseball,” helping to create significant tourism and economic development by welcoming nearly 75 million visitors to downtown Baltimore. Most recently, the Orioles were the winningest club in the American League from 2012-16, reaching the postseason three times in that span. As a club, the Orioles have developed and now operate the Mid-Atlantic Sports Network (MASN), one of the leading U.S. regional sports media properties, which reaches millions of television households across seven states. The club also reaches millions more fans through the 45-station Orioles Radio Network.
